MONDAY, DECEMBER 7TH
Children of all ages and their caregivers are invited to attend one of several story times this week hosted by the Pleasant Hill Library. At 10:15 am on December 7th babies up to age 24 months are invited to a baby lap sit story time featuring choo choo trains. Babies will have a chance to sing songs, listen to rhymes and stories, and have a special playtime with friends.
December 8th at 10:30 am toddlers age 2 and 3 years old will have a chance to listen to fun stories, sing silly songs and join their friends in wiggly activities and share the joy of toys.
Also at 10:30 am on December 9th preschoolers ages 4,5 and 6 will continue the toy land theme with a story time designed just for them. In addition to listening to cool stories about toys, preschoolers will make a toy-themed craft. All story times are free, and no registration is required. New children are always welcome to stop by the library. The American Red Cross is asking everyone to roll up their sleeves this week and give from the heart, The American way, when the bloodmobile is in Farmington on Monday, December 7th from 1pm to 7pm at the St. Micheal’s Catholic Church 22120 Denmark Avenue Farmington. Everyday patients depend upon the generosity of American Volunteers to donate life-saving blood. This blood is used to help people survive an accident, surgery or disease. Hasting Family Services is hosting Holiday Train in Hastings. It will be held Saturday, December 12 from 3:30pm –5pm at 121 Third Street East, Hastings, Minnesota 55033
St. Mathias Catholic Council of Women of Hampton will be holding their Holiday Luncheon on Saturday December 12th. The luncheon will be held in the Church basement, which is located at the corner of Highway 50 and County Road 47 in Hampton. The luncheon will be from 11 till 1 with German potato salad, ring sausage, sauerkraut, assorted salads, rolls and butter and assorted bars and cookies served with beverages. There will be a bake sale and drawing for door prizes.

On December 18th from 9 till noon join the Carpenter Nature Center for a bird banding. This is your chance to see songbirds up close and to watch the experts band birds at the Carpenter Nature Center. Bird banding helps us learn how long the birds live, where they travel, when and where they migrated and many other interesting facts. Donations of bird seed or suet will be greatly appreciated in lieu of a program fee.
December 18th at 10:15 a.m. the Pleasant Hill Library and the Hastings Community Education ECFE Staff are hosting a holiday program called “Elves and the Shoemaker.” You have to be ages 3 to 5 to attend. The Morning will be filled with a variety of fun activities for children, including; stories and rhymes, art exploration activities, games, songs, finger-plays and take home craft projects. The City of Cottage Grove is having a photo contest. The requirements are you must be a resident of Cottage Grove. No more than 1 entry per category in a resident. Winners will be determined based on seven categories, which are Cottage Grove People, Cottage Grove Landmarks, Cottage Grove Nature, Cottage Grove Housing/Neighborhood, Cottage Grove Commercial/Retail, Cottage Grove Sports & Leisure, and Cottage Grove Black/White photographs. The First prize in each category receives $50 and the photos will be featured in the Cottage Grove Reports, the City website and other various City publications. The photographs should be 5” by 7” or larger and mounted on a matte backing. All photos entries become the property of the City of Cottage Grove. The deadline is December 31st at 4:30 pm and all photos must have a completed entry form attached to it.
