SKI TEAMS OPEN PRACTICE: On Monday afternoon, the Hastings Alpine (Downhill), and Nordic (Cross Country) Ski Teams will open practice for the 2009-10 Winter High School Sports Season. You may ask how many of the teams can open practice, with temperatures hovering around 60 degrees over the past few days. The answer is dry-land training, and plenty of team meetings. Of course, the lack of snow will hamper some training for both teams, although both squads have methods of training when snow is scarce, as it has been over the past five years. You will see many of the Nordic skiers around Hastings on the inline skates, or roller-skis throughout the first couple of weeks, while the Alpiners will work on different aspects of downhill, away from the ski hills. Stay tuned to AM 1460 KDWA Radio this week for more on the 2009-10 Ski Season at Hastings.
MORE SPORTS NEXT WEEK: With the Ski Teams opening this Monday, the next group of sports will open one week from today, as (in Minnesota) the Girls Basketball, Girls Gymnastics, and Boys Hockey Teams all open practices for the 2009-10 Season, on Monday, November 16th. Prescott High School will also begin some practices for the season, beginning next Monday, after school. Stay tuned to AM 1460 KDWA Radio, for more, as Coaches Corey Morning and John Ott of the Boys and Girls Basketball Team will join Nick Tuckner throughout the week, as both teams look to repeat their amazing double regional championship win!
